This Friday, season two of The Mandalorian debuts. The first season arguably the best Star Wars story told during my lifetime and definitely the best since Disney took over, although Rogue One is right up there with it.
I will admit, The Mandalorian ended on a down note for me. The Dark Saber did nothing for me, since I didn’t understand it’s significance. I didn’t remember it from the cartoons and I guess I felt like the impact of that scene was supposed to be huge if you understood what The Dark Saber was. Instead, I was a little confused and then bummed at the dumb decision Mando made to take off without his friends.
Still, as Friday approaches I grow excited. I’m hoping for great chapter in this space western that retains the value and pacing of the first season. However, I don’t have much faith in Disney. I would not be surprised to see the show jammed full of cameos and cheap gags before it’s run into the ground. I think what I enjoyed the most out of the first season was the mystery behind it all and not knowing what to expect. This time around, Disney has announced characters and new cast members which really robs the show of that unexpectedness that was so enjoyable the first go round.
I plan on remaining optimistic and hoping for the best.
