In chapter twenty-three we find out Dartmoor is the best man in Genelle’s wedding. Dartmoor is nicer to Clarissa, but in the same way Genelle is in that he is attempting to gather dirt or look forward to embarrassing her. There’s a great little Avril Lavigne joke that made me chuckle in reference to MT’s new relationship with skater boy Norm.
In chapter twenty-four, Clarissa goes thrift store wedding dress shopping and ends up finding a great deal on a eye catching dress. Then we get into some some details about her relationship with Sam post colitis. Turns out Sam and Clarissa dated every weekend until finally spending the summer in Italy. Things were great and they discussed eloping in secret, but Clarissa had to go back to NYC to work and Sam was coming to join her soon. But every time the date neared he got sent to another job, and then another until the relationship just dissolved. There was no huge fight, it just kinda fizzled due to Sam not being around.
I liked this explanation and it felt quite naturally, especially for those two. I’m still stuck in a rut on who to root for: Sam or Nick.
