A few monthsago, my buddy Jimmy tagged me in a Facebook game to post my top ten favorite albums of all-time. I’m rarely on Facebook and didn’t see the message to a few days later, so I didn’t participate. To be honest, I don’t use Facebook much and figured I would instead find a more comfortable venue to post my top ten favorite albums of all-time.
The first step was sitting down and figuring out what my top ten favorite albums were. As I sat staring at a blank page, I immediately began to question how to define my “Top Ten Favorite Albums.” Do I go by albums containing my favorite song? Do I list albums containing the most listenable songs? Do I include compilations, greatest hits, or soundtracks? Where are the boundaries and how could Jimmy possibly burden me with such an impossible task! How in the world could anyone be asked to narrow down their favorite albums to just ten albums!
Now to be fair, the instructions on Facebook stated to just list ten of your favorite albums, with no explanations and to simply nominate someone else to do the same. So, maybe, I’m overthinking it a bit, but since I’ve already wasted way more time and brain power on assembling this list, I’m going to go all out.
These are my top ten favorite albums ranked on their listenability from track one thru the end. These albums are not necessarily the albums I listen to the most currently, but the albums I’ve listened to the most during the different stages of my life. So, I felt most comfortable in saying these albums were the best overall albums I’ve ever listened to. I’m sure if you asked me tomorrow this list would be totally different.
I decided to exclude soundtracks, compilations, and greatest lists for another list.
