So, I took the first steps to begin de-Googlefying myself. I’m not sure if there is actually going to work, but I’m going to give it an honest try. I’ve registered a new email address with another company and I’m slowly peeling back all of my reliance on Google. I doubt I’ll be able to fully escape the Google machine (I’m not sure how I’ll manage without Google Maps) but I am working on it.
My biggest hurdle is what to do about blogging. My blogs are all hosted on Blogger, which is owned by Google and I’m just not sure if I’m willing or ready to move them. That will cost money and would take a lot of time and effort (outside of this blog) so I have a feeling I’ll keep my Google account at least for blogging.
However, with that being said, I found a new free blogging service I’m tempted to swap over to for this site. It’s simple and text only, which will make me focus more on writing and I’m not sure if I’m ready to ditch all the pictures, especially since this is the one way I still communicate with my friends. I’ll think it over for a bit and might experiment before making any decisions.
Anyway, I got plenty of work to do logging and changing my emails and updating passwords and closing out accounts to keep me busy for the near future.
