This past weekend was pretty great. In fact, it was the best weekend of 2020 so far. Brandy and I got some stuff done but still had time to relax and enjoy each other’s company. It’s been a while since we’ve had that with all the drama that seems to being going on, so this weekend felt extra special.
The biggest news to come out of the weekend is that we bought a car. It’s a 2011 Mazda2 and its super cool! We got it for a great deal and it has just under 35,000 miles on it, so hopefully this car will last us quite some time. It’s in like new condition and we absolutely love the color and the car has a simplicity to it that really makes me happy. It also makes me feel good to know that Brandy will have reliable transportation and she won’t be driving around in a junker for the next year or two.
The second best things to come out of the weekend were my amazing homemade dinners that Brandy prepared. On Friday, she finally utilized the Instantpot to make chicken wings with a homemade chipotle/honey sauce. In addition to the wings she made a zucchini noodles/pepper mixture that I loved and some homemade french fries.
On Saturday, she prepared a feast consisting of a cheese board, bread and olive oil, a salad with homemade Caesar dressing, sweet potatoes gnocchis and shrimp and scallops. It was delicious and I discovered that I like scallops. Then to top it off, she made homemade cannoli stuffing and we dipped sugar cones into it which tasted fantastic.
On both Saturday and Sunday, I managed to watch a few minutes of all four XFL games and I was impressed. The quality on the field was pretty good and I really liked the presentation. It felt different, yet big league. I look forward to seeing more XFL and like I said last week, I hope it succeeds. I’m still struggling to pick a favorite team, but it’s hard not to root for the Roughnecks after that performance, but man the Defenders and Guardians defenses aren’t anything to take lightly. Sadly, as much as I love the hideous Vipers jerseys, the team really stunk!
We watched a couple of movies over the weekend as well: Seven and Valentine’s Day. I don’t think you can find two movies that are any different from one another, but I got an inkling to watch Seven last week and Brandy thought it would be nice to watch Valentine’s Day in anticipation of the upcoming holiday. I’d never seen Valentine’s Day and it wasn’t bad. It was a light hearted rom-com with a ton of stars and told an easy story. I like movies like that.
